Record participation for the annual European Safer Gambling Week

December 20, 2025

The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has announced record-breaking results from its fifth annual European Safer Gambling Week, which brought together Europe’s gambling sector for a week of action to raise awareness about safer gambling, including a social media campaign, events programme, the launch of a new resource website and activations at televised football games and retail outlets.

221partners from 24 countries participated this year, a 14% increase from 2024. Seven regulatory authorities participated by either joining the social media campaign or speaking at events. The social media campaign led by EGBA members reached a 4.1 million audience and featured over 1,280 posts containing accessible safer gambling messages in local languages. The LED pitch-side banners, in-stadium mega screen graphics and PA announcements, which featured safety messages in local languages, were featured at 8 televised football games in Bulgaria, Germany, Greece and Italy. Similar thematic safety messaging was also displayed across major retail betting outlets for the first time. The campaign featured 23 events and online sessions across Europe and also saw the launch of a dedicated website, www.safergambling. “European Safer Gambling Week 2025 marked an important milestone. With over 200 partners actively participating, we are pleased to see the initiative to grow each year. For the first time, we brought safer gambling messages to football stadiums and retail outlets across Europe. The quality of discussions at the events was again very high”, said Maarten Haijer, Secretary General of EGBA.
